The Oct. 15 Kiwanis luncheon features Author Mark Kelly as its speaker. Mark has written about the history, politics and culture of Birmingham and Alabama for most of the past quarter-century. His newest book, Back to Nature: A History of Birmingham’s Ruffner Mountain is a collaboration with photographer Bob Farley and graphic artist Melanie Colvin. Mark will share with us the history of Ruffner Mountain—it’s missteps and setbacks. In the book, he tells of the mountain’s story which in many ways, mirrors the story of Birmingham.
