Building a love of reading.
We relaunched our preschool reading initiative in 2021 as Kiwanis Reads. Members volunteer to read to more than 500 Birmingham preschoolers in nearly 20 schools twice a year to help build a love for reading and to build reading libraries at home.
Building a desire to serve.
Our club sponsors service clubs in Mountain Brook and Ramsay High Schools, as well as similar service and leadership clubs at UAB and Birmingham-Southern College.
Building a stronger community for our families.
Kiwanians and corporate partners have raised millions of dollars to invest in projects, like the Kiwanis Giraffe Encounter at the Birmingham Zoo and the Kiwanis Learning Center at McWane Science Center.
Building a connection to our past and to our future.
Kiwanians have invested more than $6 million in Vulcan Park & Museum beginning with moving Vulcan to his current home. The partnership has continued with the Kiwanis Centennial Plaza, Kiwanis Vulcan Trail and most recently sponsorship of the Vulcan at 120 exhibit.
