Member Engagement and Special Events: Host quarterly networking/off-site events; promote full attendance at KCOB luncheons and events. Contact members who are not attending and encourage them to attend. Survey membership for suggestions on how to make membership valuable. (Year round)
Membership (committee appointed by co-chairs): Recruit prospective members and complete application process with committee. Meet monthly to identify potential candidates for membership to meet a specified goal for new members while assuring candidates meet qualifications. Submit names to the Board of Directors for final approval before notifying candidate. (Year round)
Military Affairs: Plan a meaningful meeting around Memorial Day with a military focus. (Committee meetings in spring)
Programs (committee appointed by president): Identify high caliber programs and interesting speakers for our Tuesday meetings. Invite, coordinate travel and lodging, and host speaker at the meeting. Provide the Communications Director with the speakers biographical sketch, the subject of the program and the name of the sponsor/introducer. Survey members at the end of the month gauging interest in past month’s programs. (Year round)
Reading Is Fundamental: Read to Head Start preschool students three times a year. Sessions are at Arrington/JCCEO Center, Shades Cahaba School and the YWCA downtown. Reading dates are in November, February and April each year. Reading sessions with students last approximately one hour.
Youth of the Year: Plan annual recognition luncheon in April for local high school seniors who have excelled in scholarship, leadership, citizenship and service. Invite and greet honored students, parents and principals. Coordinate with the Program Committee. (Committee meetings fall and spring)
